Prerana Foundation – Who We Are

The Kalpavriksha Philosophy

In Indian mythology, the Kalpavriksha is the divine wish-granting tree — a source of abundance, fulfilment, and hope for all who seek it. Prerana Foundation draws its spirit from this timeless symbol.

Like the Kalpavriksha, we strive to be a source of possibility for every community we serve — nurturing potential, addressing need, and creating conditions for sustainable flourishing across generations.

Established in 1993 as a public charitable trust, Prerana Foundation has spent over 30 years rooting this philosophy in action — empowering communities across rural and urban India through programs spanning education, healthcare, livelihood, environment, sports, and social welfare.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To empower communities through holistic development programs that address social, economic, and environmental challenges — fostering sustainable, inclusive growth and enabling every individual to realise their full potential with dignity and independence.

Our Vision

A self-reliant India where every individual, regardless of geography, gender, or circumstance, has access to quality education, healthcare, and livelihoods, lives in a healthy environment, and where communities actively lead their own development sustainably.

Our Approach

Prerana Foundation works through a Holistic Development Model — recognising that lasting change requires addressing the full spectrum of community needs simultaneously. We operate across three integrated pillars:

Human Empowerment & Capacity Building

Strengthening individuals and institutions through education, healthcare, livelihood development, women empowerment, and rehabilitation of marginalized populations.

Innovation, Sports & Adventure Development

Nurturing talent through sports, Paralympic development, space science awareness, and adventure exploration — building India's next generation of champions and innovators.

Community & Environmental Sustainability

Building resilient communities through environmental conservation, plantation drives, strengthening grassroots institutions, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
